Q: What size swing set do I need?

A: Consider the size of your backyard. It is recommended that the swing set be at least six feet from any structures or obstructions (fence, garage, house, overhanging branches or electrical wires). Also consider the size and age of your child. Large swing sets are often intimidating for smaller, younger children, while older children may quickly become bored by a smaller, less-stimulating set.

Q: How long does it take to assemble a playset?
A: This is heavily dependent on the size of the playset, level of experience, and number of adults (we recommend at least two for all assemblies). Once the contents of the package have been verified, assembly itself can take between 6-18 hours depending on the playset size.

Q: I noticed some cracks on the surface of the wood. Is this normal?
A: Minor surface cracks, "checks", and splinters are all perfectly normal characteristics of wood. They do not affect the structural integrity and safety of your play equipment. If you notice something that makes you uneasy, please email us a picture and we can help you to evaluate whether it is safe to continue playing on, or if we need to send you a replacement piece. The safety of your family is very important to us.

Q: Is shipping included in the price?
A: Shipping to the lower 48 states is included in the price displayed on our website. For other locations, please contact us for a quote.

Q: How long until my order arrives?
A: Once purchased, we strive to ship your order within 1-2 days. Accessories, dog houses, and our smaller sandboxes ship by UPS, while playsets and larger items ship LTL. We usually see UPS deliveries taking 3-5 business days, while LTL shipments take 7-10, depending on the location.

Q: Do you offer installation and assembly?
A: We do not offer installation. We recommend contacting your favorite handyman if you'd rather not install it yourself.

Q: What type of maintenance is required?
A: We recommend re-tightening all bolts about a week after assembly, and then at the beginning of each play-season. We also suggest treating with a water-based sealer and following all maintenance directions listed on the sealer.

Q: How much sand is needed for my sandbox?
A: For the Hexagon Sandbox we recommend 400-600 pounds of sand. The Octagon Sandbox holds between 500 and 1000 pounds of sand. The sandboxes on our playsets are best with 200-300 pounds of sand.

Q: How will my playset arrive?
A: Your playset will arrive in several boxes with the slide in a large plastic bag. These will be banded and wrapped to a wooden pallet built specifically for the playset you choose.

Q: How many boxes will my playset arrive in?
A: When ordering one of our playsets, please expect the following:
• Woodlands - two boxes, one slide. For shipping purposes we consider the slide to be Box 3.
• Sky View - three boxes, one slide. For shipping purposes we consider the slide to be Box 3, and Box 4 is a smaller hardware box.
• Timber Valley - three boxes, one slide. For shipping purposes, we consider the slide to Box 4.
• Sequoia - five boxes, two slides. For shipping purposes we consider the twin slides, sandwiched together, to be Box 5, so you will receive Box 1, Box 2, Box 3, Box 4, the twin slides (Box 5), and Box 6.
• Jungle Fun - six boxes, one slide. As with the Sequoia, we consider the slide to be Box 5.

Q: I think I am missing parts. What next?
A: We do our very best to make sure that all kits and items arrive in excellent condition, but accidents and freight damage do occur. If you believe you are missing parts, please make a note on your instruction manual of how many pieces and the model number. Finish cataloging your parts to make sure nothing else is missing or damaged, then contact us by email at custservice@creativecedardesigns.com with the model of your item, receipt, and the list of parts you need. Please include your full name, mailing address, and telephone number. We will be in contact shortly.

Q: Are all of your items in stock?
A: If our items are available for purchase on our website, they are in stock and will ship shortly. In the event that an item goes out of stock rapidly and we end up oversold, we will contact you as soon as possible to get your refund started.

Q: What kind of wood is used?
A: Cunninghamia lanceolata is the species name for the tree commonly referred to as Chinese Cedar or China-fir (though it is not a fir). It is a prized timber tree in China, fast growing and highly resistant to pests and diseases. China-fir reaches maturity quickly, making it highly sustainable. The wood is fragrant, light in color (we stain it for further protection), and soft yet highly durable.

Q: Water is pooling in the center of my sandbox cover and pulling the cover off. How can I prevent this?
A: We highly recommend placing a larger sandbox toy in the center of the sandbox before covering. This will prevent water from pooling and encourage it to run off the sides, keeping your cover on and your sand dry.
Q: When will my preferred item be back in stock?
A: We strive to have as few out of stock days per item as possible, so there is a good chance it will be back soon. Join our mailing list for a notification when items are back in stock!
